A7 re-issue ???

I appologize in advance for this being a "post 1999" product.....But I am really interested in what you folks think about the A7 re-issue?
Any opinions ??

The A7 "reissue" from Altec Lansing Technologies (formerly known as "Sparkomatic") is, in my opinion, an expensive project to bolster their ego and prevent the United States Patent and Trademark Office from revoking their "Voice of the Theatre" trademark that they bought from Telex.

They did NOT make the speakers - Great Plains Audio did (about 6 sets or so). The crossover frequency is different (it should be 500 Hz), and is made in Japan. Someone, though, did do a nice job building the boxes, even though black splatter-texture rarely goes well in a fellow's living room, especially if he has a wife...

For $4,000.00 EACH, they are, to me, too expensive, and are nothing more than the proverbial chest-thumping: ALT wants everyone to think that THEY are THE Altec Lansing everyone's heard of, and they are NOT!!! They bought the BRAND NAME - NOTHING MORE!
